There are two kinds of implants, saline and silicone.
Saline (Water) Implants: Are filled with saltwater (saline) but covered with saline. Their advantages over silicone implants are:
Less expensive than silicone implants (by about $1,000 each)
Require a smaller incision for implantation. Only saline implants can be inserted via the navel incision.
Each size can be adjusted by adding saline (water). This allows saline implants to more easily correct breasts that are of different sizes. Silicone implants come in discreete sizes.
The manufacturer waranty against leak is 10 years. That means if the saline implant leaks within 10 years, the manufacturer will replace the implant and will pay for the cost of the operation.
If you want a very good implant, with the smallest incision that looks great, the saline implant is the best choise
Adjustable Saline Implants. These are made by Mentor. These implants may be adjusted multiple times in the office after many months or years. The implants may be increased or decreased in size. Professional models sometimes choose these implants so they can have their bust size increased or decreased before a photo session. Women who plan on being pregnant will often choose these implants. During pregnancy, the implant is deflated so as not to overstrech the skin. To see the adjustment of these implants look at the video.
Silicone (Gel) Implants: Older silicone implants from 20 years ago oozed silicone and were pulled from the market. If you were to place an older gel implant on a dry surface, it would wet that surface with oily silicone within a minute. Many women with old gel implants complained about a variety of health issues and these older implants were pulled from the market. Even with this leakage, silicone is an inert substance and controlled studies never showed any harm with the older gel implants.
Newer gel implants do not ooze and are as safe as saline implants. The advantages of silicone implants over saline are:
Silicone implants feel more natural than saline. When you hug someone with silicone implants, you can't tell that there is an implant there. With saline implants, a hug feels like there is a baloon there.
Silicone implants have less rippling than saline implants.
Silicone implants bounce like regular breasts, not like a water baloon.
If you want the most natural implant that has the best feel, regardless of price, this is the best implant.

Mentor Implants. Is the second major breast implant manufacturer.
