For many patients, insurance will cover the cost of the office visit and Botox. For those patients, a Botox party is not necessary.

If your insurance does not cover Botox injections, a Botox party may be formed for cost-sharing.

Up to six patients (party of six) may share the cost of Botox (about $600) and the office visit ($100 per patient). If patients have insurance, the insurer may cover the office visit. The Botox will last about 4-6 months depending on potency and concentration. Redrigerated Botox will keep for about 8 months. That means that three party members may repeat the procedure in 6 months.

 

The party members do not have to come to the appointement at the same day or time. They only agree to share the costs of the botox. The botox is kept here. Only members of that party may use that particular bottle of Botox.

 

Each Botox member gets the same amount of Botox. The concentration and number of injections for each party member may be different, but the amount will be equally distributed amongst the group. For example one Botox member may get four shots of 1/4th strength Botox each and another party member may get one full strength dose, but the amount given is the same for each member.

I have elected not to purchase a laser because they are very expensive and the technology keeps changing every few years. Consequently, physicians who purchase lasers, as opposed to renting lasers, will need to operate the laser at high volume and cost to re-pay the cost.

I have found the cost-sharing advantages of laser parties to work well.

In the case of Laser Parties, insurance companies will not cover laser treatments. Also, unlike Botox parties, all members of the laser party must be in attendance on the same day, so as to share laser costs. A minimum of six party members are needed for a laser party. Unlike the costs of  Botox treatment, which can be equally distributed,  laser treatment is very individualistic. Some patients in alaser party will pay more than others. What is shared is the maintanance of the laser and the technician, not the individual procedure. Each laser party member will be given the cost of their procedure with or without cost sharing. Patients who are in a hurry, will pay the entire cost of the laser rental ($2,500) in addition to their individual procedure(s). Since laser procedures do not last a long time (about 1 hour), the laser will be idle the rest of the day if only one patient uses it.
